Mace
जावित्री (Javitri)
Myristica fragrans
📍 Origin: India
Delicate, aromatic mace (javitri) — the golden lace around the nutmeg seed, adding subtle warmth to our Turmeric Chai.
In Our Chai
Mace spice (javitri) — the outer lace of nutmeg — adds a refined, aromatic warmth to our specialty chai patti blends.
Mace is the lacy, crimson-red aril that wraps around the nutmeg seed. When dried, it turns golden-orange and delivers a more delicate, slightly sweeter flavour than nutmeg itself.
In our Turmeric CTC Chai, mace adds a subtle aromatic warmth that complements turmeric and cinnamon beautifully without overpowering the golden cup.
You can taste Mace in our hand-blended chai range — try it in Turmeric CTC Chai. Each blend pairs Mace with carefully balanced complementary spices.
Learn more about the science of Mace — known botanically as Myristica fragrans in the Wikipedia entry on Mace (spice), which covers its history, botanical classification, and traditional uses.
Mace and nutmeg are the only spices that come from the same fruit. Mace is the bright red web-like covering around the nutmeg seed — just 1 kg of mace requires processing over 100 kg of fruit.
