Cinnamon
दालचीनी (Dalchini)
Cinnamomum verum
📍 Origin: South India
Sweet, woody Ceylon cinnamon bark — adding natural warmth and subtle sweetness to our spiced chai blends.
In Our Chai
Cinnamon in chai (dalchini) lends a sweet, woody warmth that deepens the flavour of every cup of masala chai patti.
We use true Ceylon cinnamon (not the more common cassia variety) for its delicate, complex sweetness. Sourced from Kerala, our cinnamon quills are broken into small pieces that infuse slowly, releasing warm woody notes without overpowering the tea base.
Cinnamon is a key component of our Flavourful Chai masala blend, where it works in harmony with cardamom, clove, and black pepper to create our signature four-spice flavour profile.
You can taste Cinnamon in our hand-blended chai range — try it in Chocolate CTC Chai and Turmeric CTC Chai. Each blend pairs Cinnamon with carefully balanced complementary spices.
Learn more about the science of Cinnamon — known botanically as Cinnamomum verum in the Wikipedia entry on Cinnamon, which covers its history, botanical classification, and traditional uses.
In ancient Rome, cinnamon was worth more than gold. Emperor Nero burned an entire year's supply of cinnamon at his wife's funeral to show the depth of his grief.
