Saffron
केसर (Kesar)
Crocus sativus
📍 Origin: Kashmir, India
The world's most precious spice — genuine Kashmiri saffron threads that bring luxury, colour, and powerful antioxidants to our Shahi Kesar Chai.
In Our Chai
Saffron chai (kesar chai) is our royal blend — threads of Kashmiri saffron infusing chai with golden warmth and festive elegance.
We use genuine Grade-1 Kashmiri saffron (Mongra) — hand-harvested from the fields of Pampore, Kashmir. Each crocus flower produces only three stigma threads, and it takes roughly 75,000 flowers to yield just 500 grams of saffron. This is why it’s the world’s most expensive spice.
In our Shahi Kesar Chai, real saffron threads steep with the tea to create a golden, aromatic cup with subtle honey-like sweetness. Paired with almonds and pistachios, it’s chai fit for royalty.
You can taste Saffron in our hand-blended chai range — try it in Shahi Kesar CTC Chai. Each blend pairs Saffron with carefully balanced complementary spices.
Learn more about the science of Saffron — known botanically as Crocus sativus in the Wikipedia entry on Saffron, which covers its history, botanical classification, and traditional uses.
It takes 75,000 crocus flowers — each hand-picked at dawn — to produce just 500 grams of saffron. Kashmiri saffron (Mongra) is considered the finest in the world and has its own GI tag.
